Why did he take him therefore intimately into his life? Why did he provide him personal lessons? He spoke concerning this partly in 1931 when he told Peters: "When you return Prieure 1st time you not however spoiled, haven't learn to hoodwink self. Already even then you'll be able to perhaps hoodwink mother or father, however to not self. therefore you lucky. however these folks [Jean Toomer's Chicago cluster, who Peters thinks are phonies] terribly unfortunate. Like you, when child, they learn hoodwink folks, however as they mature additionally learn hoodwink self and once learn this can be terribly tough to alter. Lying, like all alternative things, become habit for them." it's this quality of self-honesty suffusing Peters' writing that creates his books therefore immediate and vivid. His evocation of his experiences with Gurdjieff at the Prieure and later as an adult, beside his portraits of Gurdjieff through the years (1924-1945), are while not parallel. The extraordinary significance of Gurdjieff's work with him at the Prieure is revealed when Gurdjieff tells Peters that others "must duty, visit conferences, read book. If you never visit meeting, never scan book, you continue to cannot forget what I place within you once you kid. These others, if not visit meeting, can forget even existence of Mr. Gurdjieff. however not you. I already in your blood - create your life miserable forever - however such misery are often smart issue for your soul, therefore even when miserable you want to thank your God for suffering I offer you.Tag : Hartmann Intensity Carry-On
